Google UX Design Certificate Courses give me excellent opportunities to learn the foundation of UX. In the program, I create a news app as my side project.

Overview

For the path to a career in UX design, I attended Google UX Design Course on Coursera. The  certificate consists of seven practical courses and students have to complete side projects to earn certificate.

Leap News App

One of my side projects, Leap News app, aims to provide trust and latest news for people around the world. It delivers digital reading experience and targets well educated customers who usually absorb new knowledge through the media. The goal in this project is to allows users to easily browse the news and articles.

Competitor Analysis

I looked at potential competing companies and compared them in different views such as target audience, value proposition, first impression, interaction, visual design and content. I evaluated several features below to look for the opportunity that Leap News App could develop.

Takeaways

In Google UX Design Course, I not only absorbed theories and concepts, but I also put them into practice on side project. While designing Leap News app, I learned how to execute a side project from the first ideas for the app to the end of creating the prototype. I will keep trying and discovering features and design in this project.
